- Jamie :) Hello!! If you've been reading my blogs and wonder what's new. Here's the scoop! So I extended my days for people to donate for my household items donation to Foster Closet. - Jamie :) From the beginning
This is a story about what I had to go through at a very young age that relates to foster children When I was eight years old, my brother and I went into the foster care system. Our foster family provided us with food, comfort, and protection. I was so grateful to sleep on a fresh clean bed the first day there. I was nervous coming into a new home, but I got used to it while the days passed. I never really understood the foster program. I thought it was a permanent home for good. I realized as a year passed my foster parents were like my mom and dad. They were not just my foster family, they were my real family. I grew to love them. I never thought that I could love someone that I barely knew in my life. It is amazing how great things can happen when you least expect it. When I was ten years old I said goodbye to my birth mom. She could not take care of me and my brother anymore. I was very heart broken. I was still with my same foster family. A year later an amazing thing happened, our foster family adopted me and my brother. I was so happy to know that I was loved and cared for. Being adopted was the best thing that has ever happened to me. For once in my life, I was a completely different person.I felt safe and secure and knowing that I won't be heartbroken anytime soon. I want you to make a change. don't let a child go through what I went through. My project is going very well. I started a household drive where people can donate clothes, school supplies, and bathroom items to Foster Closet; which is a organization that provides to Foster children and parents. Some difficulties I've had is trying to find ways to spread the word out to others so they will know about the donations. I'll try my best to keep you posted on my blog. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. God Bless and have a great day!
- Jamie :) So far I have been trying to make posters and I hope that it will catch people's attention. I want these posters to make a difference. I'm going to be putting posters up soon.
Giving Household Items to Foster Children
Hello my name is Jamie. Let me tell you about my story, why I'm passionate about giving items to Foster Children. Last year my U.S history teacher assigned my class and I to try volunteering. I talked to Mrs.B about helping for a day at Foster Closet for my project and she said yes. While working I asked Mrs.B ( who is a volunteer at Foster Closet) about how often children come to Foster Closet. Mrs.B told me she sees children come with nothing, only with little of items they have or have trash bags with their belongings. After she told me this made me reflect how much the children live everyday in their life with only what they have is little or nothing. This motivated myself to be thankful that I have a house with a loving family and household items to use everyday of my life; than take it for granted. I chose to do a website about foster children because I care about foster children having a home in life. I use to be a foster child. I know what it feels like to be moved around. I want families to know there are kids out there in the world that need a home, that need a family who will love them and nurture them, and that will keep them safe. I want anyone that is out there in the world to Give a little love. You would make a change in children's lives.
